Steve
Newvine
Steve
Newvine has served as Chief Executive Officer for the Greater Fresno
Area Chamber of Commerce since February 2004. His responsibilities include
operational management, defining community issues that impact the Chamber
membership, and recommending Chamber policy to the board of directors.
Steve directs a staff of ten, serves a board of 25 elected directors,
and is employed by the 1,900 members of the Chamber of Commerce.
Steve
is a member of the Fresno Rotary Club, the Fresno Compact, and the Fresno
Regional Jobs Initiative Implementation Task Force. He serves on the
board of directors for the Economic Development Corporation Serving
Fresno County, Fresno Business Council, and United Way of Fresno County.
Prior
to his hiring by the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce, Steve
was President of Livingston County Chamber of Commerce in suburban Rochester,
New York. He holds a BA degree from Syracuse University and an AAS degree
from Herkimer County Community College. He graduated from high school
at South Lewis Central School in Turin, New York.
Prior
to his career in Chamber management, Steve was a TV journalist working
as a reporter, anchor, executive producer and news director at TV stations
across the eastern United States. In New York State, he was a member
of the adjunct faculty at the State University of New York campus at
Genese teaching public speaking and broadcast writing courses since
1996.
Steve
and his wife Vaune, a former religious education coordinator, will celebrate
their silver anniversary this summer. They have two daughters Alison
and Colleen. Both daughters work in the nursing field.
Steve
was a past president of Avon Rotary Club, a past member of the board
for Livingston County Business Education Alliance and a past director
of the Livingston County Community Health Partnership. He served on
the board of directors for the Chamber Alliance of New York State and
Finger Lakes Tourism. In 2003, he was chair of the Livingston County
United Way Campaign.
