Fresno County Women's Chamber of Commerce Featured Speaker:

September 2005

Ruthie Quinto - CFO-Fresno Unified School District

Ruthie was responsible administering budgets in the hundreds of millions of dollars at Fresno City Hall when she served as Interim Assistant City Manager from February 2005 - July 2005 with Andy Souza and before that as City Controller/Finance Director from June 2001 - February 2005.

Now, as one of the first new hires by our new FUSD Superintendent Michael Hanson, Ruthie is charged with bringing fiscal stability to the state's fourth-largest school district, which in recent years has been perilously-close to insolvency and faces a possible state takeover.

FUSD’s 2005-06 budget includes a nearly $19.4 million shortfall that relies on proposed agreements with employee unions to help balance it.

Ruthie has served on the Board of Directors of San Joaquin Memorial High School since June 2004 and on the School Advisory Board for Our Lady of Victory School since June 2003. She was honored as the 2004 Top Ten Business and Professional Woman of the Year by the Marjaree Mason Center and was the recipient of the  Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s 2002 Latinas Beyond Boundaries Award for Government.
