Miss Fresno County - Jillian Stout

Education:

I am currently 20 years old and a junior in college. I was born in San Andreas, California and was raised in the Bay Area where I attended Antioch High School for my freshman and sophomore year. In June of 2000, I moved with my family to Fresno, California where I finished my high school education at Clovis West High School. After graduating from Clovis West, I began attending Fresno City College with plans to transfer. I graduated from Fresno City College in May of 2005 with an Associative Arts degree in Liberal Studies and an Associative Science degree in Physical Science. I will be continuing my education at a four-year institution in the Fall of 2005 where I will be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in music in the area of classical vocal study. I will also continue to work toward completing the pre-requisites required for medical school.

Platform:

My platform is titled “Promoting an Independent Lifestyle for Individuals with Disabilities.” I currently work with several paraplegic individuals on a regular basis in order to assist them in gaining independence through occupational and massage therapy. Everyone is “differently”-abled, and it is important to help others achieve their own level of independence. This not only helps to enhance their self-image, it also benefits the community by making the individual less dependent on others.

Community Involvement:

I am a strong believer in being a contribution to society and an actively involved community member. In the past I have been involved in several different organizations within our community. I have been involved with the Good Company Players, a community theater group that is very well known and respected in this area, as well as church choirs and worship teams, school productions, and volunteer work. I currently sing with the Fresno Grand Opera, help with an organization called RSVP which is organized by the Fresno Realtors Association, and volunteer time with a recovery group at Northwest Church. I also make special appearances to different organizations where I volunteer my time to help with whatever is needed. Some of these include Break the Barriers, St. Agnes Medical Center, American Heart Association, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Hobbies and Interests:

Many people refer to me as a Renaissance woman. I have many interests and hobbies which include, singing, dancing, performing, reading, writing, equestrian sports, marine education, the mortgage and real estate industry, the fine jewelry and fashion industry, massage therapy, crafts, politics, and religion, just to name a few. I am also a saltwater enthusiast and have kept a saltwater reef tank for almost ten years.
